Love hate relationship with technology.

Last night I had one of those experiences, that will leave you doubting any trust you have for technology.
Before bed, I restarted my 24" imac and got this blinking greeting at startup.
Now I've seen this little guy before, once after a forced shut down from windows (dual boot).
This time was much different though, this time my machine wasn't recognizing my hard drives.
It didn't recognize my hard drives all night long, as I tried every suggestion online.
It drove me nuts. I sat at 1 am in the morning, defeated and breaking down in front of a grey screen.
After being told your hard drives have FAILED, its hard to find hope when you haven't backed up.

Thats right, failed hard drive, no back up, and an approaching finals week. Sounds like every students nightmare.

I went to bed, feeling as if I will never use or trust technology again. Which is crazy, since I have embedded technology into my lifestyle and career.

This morning I woke up, definitely unhappy. Although, was preparing to bring my expensive statue to the mac store.

Before I called the genius bar to make an appointment, I figured one last try couldn't hurt, much.

Pressing that button, I still heard no dong, but I couldn't believe my eyes.

My imac started up.

Here I am now, sharing my nightmarish experience, 15 minutes later.

I wanted to write this to remind myself of this technological dependancies we create, and how severing these connections can be quite harmful to the human psyche.

Also one last thing to remember, and this is for myself and everyone else.

ALWAYS BACK UP.
I'm currently making an entire archive of my files.

I also think I will be subscribing to Carbonite.

Keep exploring,
Paris
